Holy Rosary Centre for the Arts 2011 Concert Series

From the glory days of Michigan’s timber industry, Holy Rosary School was built to last for centuries. It has shining maple floors, high ceilings, and strong masonry. Fortunately a generous benefactor has underwritten the restoration of this historic miniature auditorium. The Louis & Magdalene Donakowski “Sala Koncertowa”, features live acoustics with modern seating and air conditioned comfort in a classic, intimate setting.

There Be Dragons – Movie Release

There is an excellent opportunity for us to influence the media in this area and around the country, as well as watch a great film. By the director of “The Mission” and “The Killing Fields” and produced by the company that did “The Passion”, opening weekend for the movie “There be Dragons” will be May 6/7/8. This is a movie about the Spanish Civil War and particularly the life of St. Josemaria Escriva, founder of Opus Dei. It will be a great influence to counter the DaVinci Code, as well as a great vocations opportunity as it so well portrays the priesthood, especially in light of another movie that is supposedly going to be released the following weekend that does not do such a great job at this.

We need to support this with a minimum of 2 ‘buyouts’–that means 200 seats roughly per buyout at $10 a ticket, to get it to come to a local theater in the Traverse City area (to be determined). Thus we need at least 400 tickets sold–ideally by next Monday (to have the greatest impact on where they will release the film–if we don’t get it by then, we still could possibly do it).

So–I need you to send this to all your personal local email lists of anyone that might be interested and have them email Holy Rosary (holyrosarycedar@gmail.com) by this next Monday, March 28, ideally. That is not really alot of tickets if we all send this out to our list. If we do generate enough support, then everyone would need to get everyone’s money in (mailed or delivered) soon after that. Also in that response, make a note if there is a time that you absolutely cannot make it of the following choices: (Friday May 6, around 7:30pm, Saturday May 7 around 7:30pm, or Sunday May 8 around 3pm). In other words, be as open as you can to any of those three times, please. Obviously you can buy multiple tickets for others.

The trailer can be seen at: www.dragonsresources.com

So please start forwarding this.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY UNTIL WE ARE SURE THAT WE HAVE ENOUGH OF A RESPONSE.

God Bless,
Father Libby

Was There Life Before TV?

Have fun finding out at “Loves’ Old Sweet Songs: Laughter and Tears from Bygone Years.” This program of Victorian parlor favorites has charmed audiences in American and England. Come with your family and friends Saturday, September 4th at 7:30 pm to the newly created auditorium in century-old Holy Rosary School on Schomberg Road, 2 1/2 miles north of Cedar. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $10 by calling 228-5429, or at the door for $15. Complimentary childcare available; reception following. Pope Benedict XVI himself said…

“Priests are thus challenged to proclaim the Gospel by employing the latest generation of audiovisual resources (images, videos, animated features, blogs, websites) which, alongside traditional means, can open up broad new vistas for dialogue, evangelization and catechesis.”
